Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal -- Medtronic Inc. is making deep cuts at its diabetes unit, according to a med-tech industry online site.
The jobs number in the hundreds, Mass Device reported, citing the "Diabetic Insider" blog run by David Kliff. Medtronic confirmed that there were layoffs in the unit, but didn't say how many.
It's uncertain whether downsizing in the diabetes unit would affect any Minnesota workers. The Business Journal reported in the past that the unit is based in Northridge, Calif., and has substantial operations in San Antonio.
The Fridley-based company said earlier this year that cuts were on the way.
