Medical Device Expert Dr. Cary Linsky Will Speak To SouthEastern Medical Device Association

ATLANTA, March 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Cary B. Linsky, Ph.D., MBA, recently retired Director of Medical Affairs for Ethicon, Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, will be the featured speaker at the inaugural meeting of the SouthEastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA). Dr. Linsky will discuss "Clinical Diligence in Emerging Companies."

"There is a critical need for organizations such as SEMDA," Dr. Linsky says. "It should be an excellent resource for information on topics such as product development, clinical studies, and regulatory approval," he adds. "SEMDA should also be useful in helping emerging companies and individuals with new devices gain the attention of medical device marketers."

Dr. Linsky has been an expert in the medical device industry for the past 33 years. During the past 13 years he has been involved in clinical research in support of business development and new product development initiatives at Ethicon. He has been responsible for planning, conducting and evaluating clinical research on prospective acquisition targets. He also has extensive product development experience, primarily with implantable devices. He has been awarded five patents, including those covering the first approved adhesion prevention device (Interceed), for which he won the Johnson Medal. The Food and Drug Administration recognized Interceed as one of the nine most significant advances in medical technology in the year it was approved.

"We're extremely lucky to have someone with Dr. Linsky's skills to kick off our first meeting," says the group's President, Rick Haury, a partner in the Healthcare Group of law firm Morris, Manning & Martin, LLP.

"While SEMDA's first meeting is in Atlanta, we also look forward to programs across the Southeast," says Advisory Board member Eric Mangiardi, President and CEO of Alveolus. Alveolus, based in Charlotte, NC, is a developer of non-vascular interventional stent technology.

SEMDA will hold its inaugural meeting Wednesday, March 31 at the Buckhead Club on the 18th floor of the Atlanta Financial Center, 3343 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, Georgia, 30326.
