CAMBRIDGE, MA (April 10, 2015) — Art in Giving: Exhibit XX will be on display at MassBio through June 30th, 2015.
Art in Giving: Exhibit XX showcases the work of three women artists: Judith Brassard Brown, Eliane Markoff and Silvina Mizrahi. The artists are members of Art in Giving, a collaborative that includes 60 artists and galleries that raise funds for childhood cancer research through the sale of art. Art in Giving artists have agreed to donate up to 50% of the sales of their proceeds of their art, exhibited through the efforts of Art in Giving, to The Rachel Molly Markoff Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public charity.
“It is an honor and a pleasure to have been selected as an artist to participate in this exhibition of Art in Giving at MassBio,” said participating artist Mizrahi. “For me, this represents a unique collaboration where noble interests converge. On one hand, our art brings joy and inspiration to MassBio member scientists, an inspiration which may, in turn, inspire them to discover great science. On the other hand, funds from the sale of the art will directly support children’s cancer research. I can't think of a better way to fuse art and science for a higher cause. I'm proud to be part of it.”
The exhibit features 10 paintings that feature bright colors and light in oil, watercolor, and acrylic to convey a passion for life and hope.
“We’re pleased to host Art in Giving’s Exhibit XX in the MassBio offices,” said Robert K. Coughlin, President and CEO of MassBio. “The exhibit is a colorful, welcome addition to our space and we look forward to sharing it with the hundreds of MassBio members and life sciences stakeholders who will come through our offices in the next few months.”
This exhibit is open to MassBio members during business hours and events. MassBio is comprised of more than 650 biotechnology companies, academic institutions, research hospitals, and service organizations involved in life sciences and healthcare.

About the Artists
Judith Brassard Brown - Judy was awarded a Bachelor’s and M.F.A. degree from the Boston University School of Visual Art. She is a Professor at Montserrat College of Art and Chair of the Foundation Department and teaches all levels of drawing and painting classes. Judy’s work responds to the insecurity and crisis we see worldwide centering on conflicts between powers over land and resources, and pitting one culture against another. While we all strive for the same qualities in our lives, powerful interests work against our desires for a safe environment, clean air and water and embracing a landscape to call our own. Judy’s series From the Ground Up is currently on display in a solo exhibition at the Kingston Gallery in Boston, MA.
Eliane Markoff - Eliane is the Founder of Art in Giving LLC, www.artingiving.com and a renowned painter. Eliane employs a unique style that brings an organic nature to her subject matter. Colors and movement meld together to create texture that appears to jump out from the canvas. Her work lives in private and corporate collections and has been exhibited locally and overseas at the Salon du Louvre in Paris, France. Eliane owns a consulting company focused on mediation, conflict resolution, and team building. She is on the board of trustees for Wheelock College and advisory board for Castlewood Surgical. In 2012, she was honored by the Wellesley Free Library Foundation and in 2011 with the Giving Back Award by Women Entrepreneurs in Science and Technology (WEST). Bill Brett has featured Eliane in Inspirational Women of Boston.
Silvina Mizrahi - Born in Argentina, Silvina lives with her husband and daughter in Boston. She holds a Fine Arts degree from the University of Tucuman and is a trained sculptor. In recent years, Silvina has had solo exhibitions in the Equator Gallery and group exhibitions in the Copley Society Gallery. In 2002, she was elected Full Member of the Copley Society and awarded the Nathaniel Bushward Award. In 2003, she represented Latin America as a solo sculptor in the Northeastern University Artist Festival. She has exhibited in the renowned Rice-Polak Gallery of Art in Provincetown and in the Aronow Gallery of Art in Sausalito, San Francisco. Her work has been shown at the De Cordova Museum Art in the Park Exhibition and Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA) in Boston. In 2011, Silvina was recognized as “One of the 100 most influential people for the Latino Community in Boston.”
