Lipoprotein (Lp)(a) Fails to Predict Recurrent Venous Thromboembolism (VTE) Risk

MedWire News: Measuring serum levels of lipoprotein (Lp)(a) is not a useful way to predict the risk for recurrent venous thromboembolism (VTE) in first unprovoked VTE patients, suggest study results. Marc Rodger (The Ottawa Hospital, Ontario, Canada) and colleagues explain that treatment with oral anti-coagulants and vitamin K antagonists can reduce the risk for VTE recurrence by over 90%.
