NEW YORK, /PRNewswire/ -- Koneksa Health, a private company that enables the biopharmaceutical industry to develop new medicines using digital biomarkers and novel clinical endpoints, announced today that its poster was presented during the 2019 American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics meeting, “From Molecule to Patient,” March 13-16, 2019, in Washington, D.C.

Merck and Koneksa presented the poster, describing a study validating cardiovascular mHealth technologies for detecting the effects of pharmacological intervention. The poster, titled “Mobile Health Technology Captures ‘In-House’ Data on the Outside - An Assessment with Pharmacological Intervention,” was presented in Poster Session II.

“We are pleased to share this important work from our collaboration with Merck, and are honored that our poster will be part of the 2019 ASCPT meeting,” said Elena Izmailova, Ph.D., Chief Scientific Officer at Koneksa. “This study is an important step towards validating wearable technologies for use in human experimentation. I am very pleased with the results of the study, demonstrating the feasibility of collecting cardiovascular data remotely in clinical trials.”

About the study
The study was performed in two parts over 12 days in 18 healthy male subjects ages 19-60. Part I (n=6) compared mHealth measurements of heart rate and blood pressure to those from traditional technologies. Part II evaluated the ability of mHealth technologies to detect effects of cardiovascular treatments. The results demonstrated that mobile measures produce comparable results to the traditional in clinic assessments and are able to detect the effects of pharmaceutical intervention.

About ASCPT
The American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics (ASCPT) was founded in 1900, and consists of over 2,300 professionals whose primary interest is to advance the science and practice of clinical pharmacology and translational medicine for the therapeutic benefit of patients and society. ASCPT is the largest scientific and professional organization serving the disciplines of clinical pharmacology and translational medicine.

ASCPT focuses on improving the understanding and use of existing drug therapies and developing safer and more effective treatments for the future. Our memberships’ unique combination of scientific and clinical expertise makes them especially qualified to understand the impact of disease on patients, the compelling need for effective drug therapy, and the efforts necessary to meet those needs. Such efforts include research, exchange of scientific information, and awareness of legislative requirements that affect drug development and regulation.

About Koneksa Health
