The GenePool, an NGS and bioinformatics facility based in Edinburgh, has converted to sourcing its oligos from IDT using the effective TruGrade™ Processing Service, following barcode cross-contamination of samples from a previous oligonucleotide supplier. Increasingly, The GenePool performs multiplexed sequencing runs, with an ever-growing number of samples. Therefore, accurate barcoding is vital to identify sample specific information following pooling.
The quality and purity of oligos for sample barcoding in NGS is imperative and, as Dr Karim Gharbi from The GenePool explains: “It basically makes the difference between high quality data and a dataset that we can’t publish because we don’t trust it.” Their search for reliable barcoding led Drs Gharbi and Fuentes-Utrilla to the IDT TruGrade™ Processing Service, the use of which resulted in the provision of a very clean dataset with no apparent barcode crosstalk, enabling accurate and insightful analysis.
