Instrumentation Laboratory Company Installs 2000th ACL TOP(R) System

BEDFORD, Mass., Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Instrumentation Laboratory (IL), today, announced it has installed its 2000th ACL TOP Hemostasis Testing System. The recipient was Addenbrooke’s Hospital, based in Cambridge, England. The analyzer, an ACL TOP CTS, is one of four identical analyzers installed in their hemostasis laboratory.

Addenbrooke’s Hospital is part of the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, one of the largest and most prestigious hospital groups in the United Kingdom. A teaching hospital, Addenbrooke’s is associated with University of Cambridge, School of Clinical Medicine and is a leading center for biomedical research and education worldwide. The Hemostasis Laboratory at Addenbrooke’s is a highly regarded global research center for the clinical application and development of assays and has a comprehensive repertoire of phenotypic and genotypic hemostasis investigations.

IL introduced the ACL TOP base model in 2004 and since then, a number of other models have been introduced, including: ACL TOP CTS in 2006, ACL TOP 500 CTS in 2008 and the ACL TOP 700 LAS in 2008. These analyzers have enjoyed tremendous success, quickly becoming the “gold standard” for mid-to-large-volume hemostasis laboratories worldwide.

The ACL TOP Family of analyzers is widely recognized as comprising the best hemostasis systems on the market with their comprehensive test menu, powerful and intuitive software and superior reagent systems. Offering true standardization, each member of the ACL TOP Family features the same:

“Since its introduction, customer response to the ACL TOP systems has been exceptionally high. We continue to broaden the scope of our product offering to satisfy an even greater segment of the hemostasis lab market,” said Remo Tazzi, Director of Marketing, Hemostasis Instruments at IL. “We are very proud to install our 2000th unit at Addenbrooke’s, a renowned teaching hospital at the forefront of medical innovation, delivering the highest quality healthcare.”

Introduced at this year’s International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH) and American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) conferences in July, IL plans to fully commercialize the ACL TOP 700 and ACL TOP 700 CTS Hemostasis Testing Systems later this year. These instruments will give IL an even more extensive product offering for semi-automated to fully automated hemostasis laboratories.
