PITTSBURGH /PRNewswire/ -- Moxie, a modern marketing solutions agency in Pittsburgh, launched its first FutureX Live Conference on Thursday, September 27, drawing 100 attendees representing over 40 local and regional organizations. The half-day event featured thought-provoking discussions about how innovations in Artificial Intelligence (A.I.), healthcare and data privacy are transforming the way marketers connect with consumers and vice versa.

Dr. Toren Finkel of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s Aging Institute shed light on his research on expanding lifespans and how, in the near future, we may have drugs dedicated to helping us live longer, healthier lives.

“Age is a major risk factor for basically every chronic disease that we have,” said Dr. Finkel. “Right now drugs only treat age-related illnesses. Let’s develop and discover drugs that slow the rate that we age. We are getting older as a planet, and understanding why and how we age is not only a great biological question but is also imperative to saving our future.”

Lorrie Cranor of Carnegie Mellon’s CyLab discussed the changing privacy and security landscape and how a poor user experience is putting consumers at risk. According to Cranor, being bogged down by bulky privacy policies that no one understands plus too many passwords, each with its own configuration requirements, make consumers susceptible to data breaches.

Keynote speaker Grad Conn, Chief Experience and Marketing Officer at Sprinklr, tied together how developments in technology and increased understanding of human biology and behavior impact marketers.

“The network effect that we have today has led us to a world where the customer finally, really is in control and can make or break brands,” Conn said. “As marketers, we have to be customer-centric because people want to have a relationship with brands where they know as much about that brand as it knows about them as individuals.”

Bringing FutureX Live to Pittsburgh is just one of many ways that Moxie is celebrating and showcasing the city’s role as both a hub and driver of innovation for tech, healthcare, education, business and more.
