Impulse Monitoring, Inc. Closes $9 Million Financing

COLUMBIA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 9, 2006--Impulse Monitoring, Inc., a health care company that provides intra-operative neurophysiological monitoring during invasive surgical procedures, announced today that it has completed a $9 million round of financing. New investor Tullis-Dickerson led the round, with additional participation from existing investors. As a result of this investment, Timothy M. Buono of Tullis-Dickerson will join the company's board of directors.

The company will use this capital to continue to differentiate its services and rapidly expand its presence in the U.S. market.

Intra-operative Neurophysiological Monitoring (IONM) is the application of a variety of electrophysiological and vascular monitoring procedures during surgery. IONM reduces the incidence of neurological injuries to patients during surgical procedures by detecting early warnings of injury that allow for timely intervention. IONM consequently confers possible benefits at many levels in medical care, including improved patient care, reduced patient neurological deficits, improved surgical morbidity and mortality, reduced hospital stay and medical costs, and reduced insurance burden.

"We have been very impressed with Impulse Monitoring's management and clinical teams. They have a strong business platform and are well positioned for success," said Tim Buono of Tullis-Dickerson. "We are excited to be a lead partner with Impulse Monitoring, which is driving the expanded use of local and remote monitoring in the neuroscience market."

"The support of Tullis-Dickerson will broaden the resources and services we can offer through partners and providers nationwide," said Roger Conley, founder and president of Impulse Monitoring. "This additional capital will enable us to continue providing outstanding service to an increasing number of surgeons and hospitals, while strengthening Impulse Monitoring as a leader in this important and expanding field," added Conley.
