HeartSine Technologies, Inc and The Boy Scouts of America Helping Save Lives

NEWTOWN, Pa., Oct. 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- HeartSine® Technologies, Inc., a world leader in personal and public access defibrillators, announced an agreement with the Boy Scouts of America to make the HeartSine® samaritan® PAD 300P Public Access Defibrillator, the leading Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device on the market, available to Scout councils, individual units, campsites and Scout-related facilities for the treatment of Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). Through this alliance, HeartSine supports the Boy Scouts in its mission to provide an environment where health and safety play a significant role in every aspect of the Scouting program.

“The safety of our Scouts and adult leaders is our number one priority; we chose the HeartSine AED device because of its advanced technology, durability and ease-of use,” said Richard R. Bourlon, P.E., CSP, Team Leader, Health and Safety, Boy Scouts of America. “Being prepared for an emergency is something we take very seriously these devices will enable our members to provide effective, lifesaving treatment, should a SCA event occur.”

The samaritan PAD is clinically superior to other AED devices. It is a safe, reliable and effective AED device that can be used by any scout, unit leader or family member to administer lifesaving treatment for Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Sudden cardiac arrest happens when the heart cannot pump blood effectively. It often strikes without warning and it can happen to anyone, regardless of age, race or gender. The result can be devastating. According to the Heart Rhythm Society, an estimated 14,000 children and infants die annually from sudden cardiac arrest. When SCA happens, there’s little time to react and no time to think. Administering CPR is not enough. It is a temporary measure that maintains blood flow and oxygen to the brain. It will not return a heart to a normal rhythm. Only defibrillation the sooner, the better can return a heart to a normal rhythm.

“HeartSine has decades of invention and innovation that enables us to continue to develop and provide clinically advanced, life saving defibrillation technology to the Boy Scouts and thousands of other customers around the globe,” said Marc Lawrence, senior vice president, HeartSine. “Selecting the right AED is the first step on the path to saving a life. Like any other safety equipment, the samaritan PAD is a must-have, lifesaving addition to any Boy Scout location.”
