Healthcare Exposure, Age Linked to Infective Endocarditis

MedWire News -- Results from an Australian study show that healthcare-associated infective endocarditis (IE) is becoming an increasing problem. The researchers found that just under a third of IE patients had healthcare-associated IE was associated with older age, diabetes, renal impairment, heart failure, and infection with antibiotic-resistant S. aureus and Enterococcus.
