Gov. Rendell Names Montco Doctor To Board

PHILADELPHIA, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Joseph C. Gallagher, a Montgomery County physician specializing in the treatment of hair loss disorders and a national leader in contemporary hair restoration surgery has been appointed to the Pennsylvania Board of Osteopathic Medicine.

Governor Edward G. Rendell, in making the selection, hailed Dr. Gallagher as a physician whose “dedicated service to the Commonwealth” earned the high opinion and respect of the government and citizens of the State to serve on the prestigious panel.

Pennsylvania Senate members approved the Governor’s appointment, calling the Board’s task “challenging” and one requiring medical wisdom and practical decision-making. He will be one of six physicians on the 11-member Board.

Once named “Top Doc” by two major Philadelphia publications, the Bala Cynwyd practitioner has been frequently cited as the region’s preeminent hair restoration specialist.

Dr. Gallagher, who trained at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathy, initially specialized in Orthopedics after graduation from Thomas Jefferson University.

He is the former President of the Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia and was Chairman of the Board of Certification for the American Association of Osteopathic Surgeons in Atlanta. In 1993, he was honored by that organization as “Surgeon of the Year.”
