Genetic Variation For Heart Attack Risk Found

Scientists have pinpointed a gene which seems to play a crucial role in heart attacks. They found that a particular mutation of the gene occurs more frequently in people who have had a heart attack. It is thought the gene controls inflammation in the arteries supplying blood to the heart. A blockage here can trigger a heart attack. The research, by Toyko’s Institute of Physical and Chemical Research, is published in Nature.
