April, 2011 -- The GEA Pharma Systems stand at Interpack 2011 is to be a celebration of inspired technology and engineering excellence for the pharma industry. Central to the stand will be a complete pharmaceutical processing line that will incorporate technology from the GEA Pharma Systems brands into one fully operational plant. And there’s more too.
A complete production plant on stand
At the heart of the production plant on show at Interpack are PharmaConnect®, and Flexstream™. PharmaConnect ® is GEA’s innovative, modular granulation and blending system offering an unbeatable range of process types and capacities; FlexStream™ is the world leading process technology for spray granulation and pellet coating, delivering unbeatable benefits in terms of greater productivity, lower running costs and a robust and scaleable process.
Product transfer is provided down to nanogram levels by Hicoflex®, the disposable, flexible option, and the Buck® MC and Buck® TC, the highest-performing split valves available on the market today.
High-performance tableting is represented by the Courtoy MODUL™ P displayed in a Wash-off-Line (WOL) configuration and the Courtoy PERFORMA™ S, renowned for its instant high-output capability of up to 405,000 tablets per hour. Also on show will be ancillary equipment such as: a Buck Systems™ hoist and IBC; a Buck® MC valve DN200; a washable Pharma Flex deduster 1000 and Ceia metal detector; and washable Combi-Test Kraemer for automatic sampling.
Continuous processing for R&D labs
At Interpack, GEA Pharma Systems will launch its new ConsiGma™-1 continuous processing line for R&D labs. ConsiGma™-1 is an evolution of the ConsiGma™ continuous high-sheer granulation concept introduced three years ago. ConsiGma™-1 allows laboratories to develop new products, using a continuous process, in volumes from as little at 200g with less that 80g product loss in the system. The process parameters developed with ConsiGma™-1 can be directly transferred to the full ConsiGma™ system without any problem with scale up.
Single Pot processing
GEA Pharma Systems’ Single Pot processing capabilities will be represented by the UltimaPro™ 25 that allows the contained processing of highly potent active ingredients, including mixing, granulation and drying, in a single machine. This machine will also be fitted with the award-winning Lighthouse Probe™ (LHP) that monitors blend homogenity, granule formulation (particle size), liquid distribution and drying.
Flow and fermentation
GEA Diessel will be showing its IZMAG™ electromagnetic flow meters with unrivalled accuracy and reliability plus a host of new features including a visual display, 360° positioning, automatic calibration, automatic alarms both on the instrument and to a central monitoring station and Bluetooth compatibility for simple data gathering.
GEA Diessel fermentation units are characterised by their quality of manufacture, their simple design without dead areas making them ideal for sterile operation, and the accuracy with which the temperature and agitation can be controlled. They are ideal for pharmaceutical and microbial operations where the highest possible quality is required.
Spray drying and CFD
GEA Niro will be demonstrating Drynetics™ its revolutionary technique that allows researchers to watch the changing structure of a single particle as it dries and also extract a mathematical description of its drying kinetics for use in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations. In the two years since its introduction Drynetics™ has already allowed GEA Niro to radically alter many of its designs to improve powder properties and reduce the size of spray drying equipment.
Systems integration
Although the stand at Interpack will feature the latest in pharmaceutical technology it is GEA Pharma Systems’ expertise in systems integration that provides the unique hook. Buck Systems™ provides that expertise with an exhaustive knowledge of the GEA equipment and many years experience in systems integration the company can provide the link between plant design and guaranteed outcomes that are essential in the pharmaceutical industry. Buck Systems™ engineers will be on the stand to discuss projects in detail.
Freeze drying in action – Seminar at GEA Lyophil
GEA Lyophil invites visitors at Interpack to a series of afternoon seminars on specific topics related to pharmaceutical freeze drying. The seminars, and presentations of Lyophil technologies, will take place on 13, 14 and 17 May at the company’s factory in Hürth. Guests will be collected from the Düsseldorf exhibition area at 2.30pm and taken to the seminars. The program includes a buffet dinner after the seminar, and transfer back to the exhibition centre, to the railway station or the airport as the participants wish.
Visit GEA Pharma Systems on stand number F24, Hall 8a and get to know the GEA Pharma Systems technology and discuss your requirement with the engineers and staff on hand to answer questions.
