CHICAGO, Oct. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton and Medtronic Co-Founder Earl Bakken take the plenary stage Wednesday for the final day of AdvaMed 2014: The MedTech Conference at McCormick Place in Chicago, Ill.
The morning plenary, “The Payer and Provider Perspective,” will kick off with remarks by Chairman Upton. Next, an expert panel featuring Dr. Scott T. Josephs, vice president and national medical officer, Cigna; Susan DeVore, president and CEO, Premier, and Mark Neaman, President and CEO, NorthShore University HealthSystem, will hold an interactive discussion on the rapidly changing U.S. health care market and the challenges and opportunities facing payers and providers.
Wednesday’s plenary lunch begins with the presentation of AdvaMed’s second annual Lifetime Achievement Award to Medtronic Co-Founder Earl Bakken. Several MedTech Legends will be in attendance to see Mr. Bakken honored for his significant contribution to improving patient care through medical technology innovation. The plenary will close with remarks by one of the country’s most influential political figures, Former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Programming on Wednesday will also include several notable panel sessions, including a Town Hall meeting with the leadership of FDA’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH), including center Director Dr. Jeffrey Shuren along with three of CDRH’s office directors.
