A year after its acquisition by a Grand Rapids, Mich., private equity firm, Ethox Medical LLC’s downtown Buffalo site is scheduled to shut-down by year’s end.
According to a notice filed with the state Department of Labor, 53 of the firm’s 65 employees will lose their jobs by Dec. 31, with the remainder transferring or continuing to work from home after the Seneca Street site shuts down.
Ethox, a medical device manufacturer, was sold last summer to Dempsey Ventures by Moog Inc., which itself acquired the company in 2009. Dempsey Ventures focuses on health-care products.
