SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Elekta Impac Software has been selected to demonstrate at the 2009 American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Electronic Health Records (EHR) Symposium: Harnessing the EHR, From Incentives to Sustainability, October 6-7, in San Francisco, California. Open to the entire cancer care team, including oncologists, administrators and nurses, the forum will arm health care providers with the knowledge to successfully select and implement an oncology-specific EHR in their practice.
One of eight vendors chosen, Elekta Impac Software will conduct demonstrations of its integrated oncology EHR, MOSAIQ(R). Designed for use in the medical and radiation oncology environment, MOSAIQ has helped practices - across the globe, both large and small - reduce costs, enhance efficiency and strengthen business performance. In addition to the demonstrations, participants will have an opportunity to test and experiment MOSAIQ, including its capacity to:
“Not all electronic health records are the same, and we’re looking forward to helping participants gain not only a better understanding of MOSAIQ, but the role Elekta will play in the future of health care IT,” says Donna Getreuer, Director of Medical Oncology Business Marketing for Elekta Impac Software.
As part of the economic stimulus bill, the federal government allocated $19.2 billion dollars in incentives to encourage the adoption of EHRs among physicians and hospitals. This portion of this bill is entitled the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, or HITECH Act, and strongly encourages the health care industry to go paperless by 2015.
Sima Aziz, Elekta Impac Software’s Business Line Manager for Medical Oncology, notes, “We commend the governments’ goal of improving the quality of patient care, and believe that building a strong IT infrastructure within our health care system will expedite the realization of this goal. We are pleased the stimulus has provisions to help physicians and hospitals deliver the best possible patient care.”
ASCOs EHR Symposium will take place: Tuesday, October 6 from 7 a.m. - 4:15 p.m. and Wednesday, October 7 from 7 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
