CULVER CITY, CA and PLEASANT HILL, CA--(Marketwire - September 30, 2009) - Today, Discus Dental®, LLC and Zap Lasers® LLC announced a strategic partnership whereby Discus Dental will have the exclusive right to market, sell and distribute Zap Lasers products in the global professional dental market. Beginning immediately Discus Dental will be selling the Styla™ Microlaser, StylaOrtho™, SoftLase Pro®, OrthoLase® and HygieneLase® products of diode lasers under the Discus Dental brand, in the U.S.
Discus will offer the Styla and StylaOrtho products for an MSRP of $8,995 to doctors in the US -- 20% less than its existing MSRP of $11,400. The SoftLase Pro, OrthoLase and HygieneLase products will be offered at $4,995 -- almost 30% less than the current Zap Laser MSRP. At this new low price, the SoftLase Pro line of lasers will come with standard proficiency training and a 3-year warranty. This will make the SoftLase Pro one of the most affordable diode laser products available, with a long track record of quality, service and reliability.

SoftLase Pro has also earned a top rating from Dental Product Shopper of 4.7.
Discus Dental will take over distribution, sales and marketing rights for the Zap products in the field of professional dentistry worldwide, with the exception of two existing and retained Pacific Rim distribution channels. Initially Discus distribution will begin in the US. However, Discus will immediately work to gain regulatory approval to distribute the products in their international direct operations in Canada, Europe and Australia, as well as through the global channel of over 100 dealers.

Are lasers safe to use?
Yes. When following directions for use properly. Lasers require that all persons near the laser when in operation wear safety glasses. Three pairs are shipped with each laser; one for the patient, one for the assistant and one for the doctor. Each laser also comes with a kill switch that immediately shuts the laser off if needed.
Is there training with the purchase of a Laser like there is with Zoom?
Yes. All Discus lasers come with training.
Are the training courses eligible for CE credit?
Yes. 8 credits will be issued upon successful completion of the course.
