COLLEYVILLE, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--digiMedical Solutions, Inc.™ (OTC:DGMS) today announced the company’s pharmacy chain has received compliance certification under the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) The Combat Methamphetamine Act of 2005. The act requires all pharmacists and staff to be trained to spot customers purchasing any product containing pseudoephedrine, ephedrine, or phenylpropanolamine for the purpose of altering its chemical components to produce the street drug “Meth.” Many popular over-the-counter medications such as Sudafed, Claritin-D, some Robitussin products and many house brands contain these chemicals, which are used as a decongestant for cold and allergy symptoms. Under the terms of the act, pharmacies are required to receive a customer signature for every product purchased containing the aforementioned chemicals. Additionally, pharmacists are required to monitor patients to ensure that they make no purchase more than 3.6 grams of substances containing these chemicals per day. To further aide in the prevention of “meth” abuse, these products will be kept behind the counter.
