LINCOLN, Neb., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The deadline for entries is May 30th to register to win a complete Odyssey(R) Infrared Imaging System from LI-COR Biosciences. The give away includes an Odyssey Infrared Imager, a new Odyssey MousePOD(TM) small animal imaging accessory, Odyssey application and analysis software, and installation. Registration for the random drawing is open until midnight May 30, 2006 to entrants in the United States and Canada only.
The Odyssey System with MousePOD will be given to a public or private research institution and researchers may submit an entry via the company's web site, www.licor.com/discover or by mail. The contest is open to any individual in the United States or Canada. The contest registrant must designate the educational institution or research facility to receive the system donation subject to acceptance by that institution. A winner will be selected by random drawing on June 1, 2006 with the winner announced by June 15, 2006 on LI-COR's website.
"Our new MousePOD accessory adds to the application flexibility of the Odyssey System," says Neeraj Asundi, LI-COR product manager. "The Odyssey provides a single platform for researchers to use the same infrared probe to do in vitro, in vivo, whole organ, and tissue section imaging."
The Odyssey MousePOD(TM) Imaging Accessory fits over the standard Odyssey scanning surface for in vivo imaging of up to three mice. MousePOD features temperature regulation and easy connection to any gas anesthesia system. LI-COR's IRDye(R) reagents for in vivo imaging include infrared dyes for labeling probes, an IRDye 800 CW labeling kit, and the new IRDye 800CW EGF Optical Probe.
The Odyssey Infrared Imaging System is uniquely equipped with two infrared channels for direct fluorescence detection with high sensitivity and low biological background fluorescence. Infrared wavelengths allow for superior penetration. Odyssey provides a complete solution for cellular analysis including optical tracer characterization using the In-cell Western assay, in vivo imaging, imaging whole tumors, and in situ analysis and characterization of tumor sections. The superior signal-to-noise ratio produced using near infrared dyes produces results not possible with traditional visible fluorescence-based imaging systems.
LI-COR Biosciences is a leader in the design, manufacture, and marketing of integrated infrared instrument systems and reagents for biotechnology and drug discovery research. Founded in 1971, the privately held company is based in Lincoln, Nebraska, with subsidiaries in Germany and the United Kingdom. LI-COR systems are used in over 100 countries and are supported by a global network of offices and distributors.
