Event recognizes individuals dedicated to empowering people affected by myeloproliferative neoplasms
CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- CURE Media Group, which reaches over 1 million patients, survivors and caregivers across an industry-leading multimedia platform devoted solely to cancer updates and research, has named David C. Fajgenbaum, M.D., MBA, MSc, FCPP, a co-founder and the executive director of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network and a Castleman disease survivor, as the guest speaker for the eighth annual MPN Heroes® recognition ceremony. The Heroes ceremony recognizes individuals dedicated to empowering people affected by myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). This year’s celebration will take place on Friday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m. at Ports of Call at SeaWorld in Orlando, Florida.
“We could not be more excited to have Dr. Fajgenbaum joining us as the guest speaker for the MPN Heroes® recognition ceremony,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president and CEO of MJH Life Sciences™, the parent company of CURE Media Group. “Fajgenbaum’s story of determination and innovation is sure to inspire everyone in attendance. Together, we look forward to celebrating these remarkable heroes at the MPN Heroes® recognition ceremony.”
Fajgenbaum was a medical student when he was diagnosed with Castleman disease, a deadly illness that presents like a mix of cancer and an autoimmune disorder. After being told there was no approved treatment for his condition, Fajgenbaum did his own medical research. He identified a treatment option and brought himself into a lasting remission, making him a champion to all Americans living with rare conditions. Now the co-founder and executive director of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network, Fajgenbaum believes that his persistence in the face of incredible obstacles has helped ignite a revolution in rare-disease research.
The MPN Heroes Recognition Program is sponsored by Incyte Corporation and CURE Media Group, publishers of CURE® magazine. Incyte partners with CURE Media Group to support the program, with CURE® hosting the annual MPN Heroes Celebration Event recognizing heroes of the MPN community. The honorees are nominated by patients and caregivers for their extraordinary contributions and dedication. Finalists and winners are selected by an independent judging panel comprised of patient advocates and healthcare professionals. Supporting the MPN community is an ongoing priority for Incyte, a global biopharmaceutical company that discovers and develops novel medicines to meet serious unmet medical needs in oncology and other diseases. Individuals or entities supported through funding or directed by Incyte are not eligible for consideration or recognition.
