WASHINGTON, April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Renowned actor/comedian and patient advocate Bernie Mac will deliver a plenary address at BIO 2006 at McCormick Place in Chicago. Mac will speak Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the luncheon plenary, scheduled from 12:15 to 1:45 p.m. CDT.
A stand-up comedian and television star of the long-running and award-winning Fox series, “The Bernie Mac Show,” Mac announced last year that he was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 1983. Sarcoidosis is a rare autoimmune disease of unknown origin that causes inflammation of the body’s tissues, most frequently in the lungs. Mac has supported increasing public awareness of Sarcoidosis, and plans to create the Bernie Mac Foundation to further understanding of this disease.
