Chronotherapeutics Corrects Circadian Rhythm Abnormalities in Many Psychiatric Disorders

EGMN -- Circadian dysfunction can greatly affect brain function – impairing behavior, cognition, and affect – and can be improved with a “chronotherapeutic” approach, according to one of the leading researchers in the field. Anna Wirz-Justice, Ph.D., professor emeritus at the center for chronobiology at Psychiatric University Clinics in Basel, Switzerland, who is one of the leading researchers in this field. She coauthored the treatment manual, “Chronotherapeutics for Affective Disorders: A Clinician’s Manual for Light and Wake Therapy” (Basel: Karger, 2009).
