Cheetah Medical Inc. Appoints Massachusetts General Hospital Physician, Douglas M. Hansell, MD, MPH, As Chief Physician Executive

NEWTON, Mass., Nov. 11, 2014—Cheetah Medical, a rapidly growing medical device company, announced today that it has appointed Douglas M. Hansell, MD, MPH, Assistant Clinical Professor of Anesthesia at Massachusetts General Hospital, as Chief Physician Executive, effective Nov. 17, 2014. Dr. Hansell will succeed William T. (“Pepper”) Denman, M.D., also a Massachusetts General Hospital physician, who has served in a part-time consulting role as Cheetah Medical’s Chief Medical Officer for nearly two years.

“It is with great pleasure that I announce that Dr. Doug Hansell will be joining Cheetah Medical as our Chief Physician Executive next week,” said Chris Hutchison, President and CEO of Cheetah Medical. “Dr. Hansell comes to us from GE Healthcare, where he has been Chief Medical Officer since 2010. During his tenure at GE Dr. Hansell established and led a global medical affairs organization supporting the broad diagnostic GE portfolio including diagnostic imaging, monitoring, healthcare IT, life sciences and GE Partners and GE Joint Ventures. Dr. Hansell also led the centralization of all global clinical research and the establishment of a global clinical research organization.

“Before joining GE, Dr. Hansell served as Chief Medical Officer for the Respiratory and Monitoring division of Covidien. He also has extensive experience working in early-stage organizations and thus brings a rich and relevant background to us at Cheetah. I have known Doug since 2009 and am delighted to have the chance to work with him again. I know he will make huge contributions as we work to make Stroke Volume the next Vital Sign,” said Mr. Hutchison.

Dr. Hansell will continue to maintain his clinical duties as an Anesthesiologist at Massachusetts General Hospital.
