BRANFORD, Conn., Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- CAS Medical Systems, Inc. , a medical device company focused on innovative non- invasive vital signs monitoring, announced that its new cerebral oximeter, FORE-SIGHT, has been launched at the PostGraduate Assembly in Anesthesiology for the New York State Society of Anesthesiologists. The PGA, recognized worldwide as one of the most prestigious clinical meetings in anesthesiology, was held December 8-10 in New York City and showcased the latest technological advances in the field. The Company plans to have FORE-SIGHT monitoring systems available for sale starting in the first quarter of 2007.
The FORE-SIGHT Cerebral Oximeter measures absolute cerebral tissue oxygen saturation. These values are important to clinicians because cerebral hypoxia is one of the leading causes of brain injuries and occurs in many surgical and clinical situations. The patented, non-invasive FORE-SIGHT technology provides new, vital information that enables clinicians to identify and quickly respond to instances of brain tissue oxygen deprivation before damage to the brain occurs.
"The unveiling of FORE-SIGHT at the PGA marks a significant milestone in the development of this unique product," stated Louis P. Scheps, President and CEO of CASMED. "We believe that the measurement of absolute brain oxygenation will become a standard of care, particularly in cardiovascular surgeries, high-risk general surgical procedures, and in critical care settings where there is strong potential for brain oxygen deprivation."
Andrew E. Kersey, Chief Operating Officer, continued, "The introduction of FORE-SIGHT at the PGA has generated significant interest from the medical community who recognize the need for non-invasive, absolute monitoring of oxygen saturation in the brain. We are proceeding on schedule with our plans to finalize the introduction of this product to the marketplace, and will complete comprehensive training of our clinical specialists and national distribution network in January."
