Carestream Health, Inc.'s DRX-Revolution System Showcased at Premier Healthcare Alliance’s Innovation Celebration

ROCHESTER, N.Y., June 5 — The DRX-Revolution Mobile X-ray System was one of 20 medical products selected by the Premier healthcare alliance for its 2012 Innovation Celebration attended by 4,000 healthcare representatives today in Nashville, Tenn.

The annual Innovation Celebration recognizes significant advances in healthcare while highlighting industry suppliers committed to innovation and improving patient outcomes. Carestream’s DRX-Revolution X-ray system was selected for this event by clinicians and other members of the Premier healthcare alliance, a hospital-owned performance improvement alliance of more than 2,600 hospitals and 84,000 other care sites.

Selection criteria included uniqueness of the product, its ability to have an impact on an unmet medical need and its potential to positively impact patient care.

The compact, mobile DRX-Revolution solves challenges involved in taking high-quality X-ray images in emergency rooms or intensive care units where severely ill and injured patients are surrounded by breathing tubes, IVs and other bedside equipment. The DRX-Revolution uses specialized software and an extending X-ray tube to produce high-quality digital radiography images in seconds, so physicians can immediately make a diagnosis and begin treatment.

This X-ray room on wheels also features a unique, collapsible column that provides clear visibility and enhanced safety as technologists and other staff members move the system throughout the hospital.

“The DRX-Revolution was specifically designed to address the challenges of capturing high-quality bedside images for severely ill and injured patients,” said Doug Spotts, General Manager, US&C Medical Sales, Carestream. “Dozens of radiology professionals were involved in the product’s design and healthcare providers around the world recognize the important innovations delivered by this new mobile X-ray system.”

“Those who attend and participate in the Innovation Celebration share Premier’s commitment to providing innovative, valuable products to our members that impact healthcare’s safety, quality and cost,” said Durral Gilbert, senior vice president, Supply Chain Emerging Services, Premier. “These new innovations will truly benefit people across the nation as healthcare providers continue to improve care.”

Any supplier, regardless of whether the company is contracted with Premier, can be considered for participation in the Innovation Celebration. Overall, Premier contracts with more than 800 suppliers.
