Carestream Health, Inc. Begins Shipping Innovative DRYVIEW Chroma Imager That Prints Medical Images to Film and Paper

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 13 — Carestream is now shipping its innovative new DRYVIEW Chroma Imager, which just received FDA clearance, to healthcare providers across the globe. This flexible printer outputs grayscale and color DICOM images from most digital modalities onto Chroma Medical Film for diagnosis or Chroma Medical Paper for use by referring physicians and patients. The new DRYVIEW Chroma Imager eliminates the need for multiple printers and minimizes operating costs with affordable consumables and low maintenance requirements.

“This high-quality printer delivers exceptional convenience by performing diagnostic, referral and archival printing for hospitals, imaging clinics, physicians’ offices and other healthcare providers across the globe,” said Joseph Maune, Global Business Manager, Advanced Printing Systems, Carestream Health. “It enables color or grayscale printing of images on demand at any location and replaces the need for multiple printers dedicated to either film or paper.”

The DRYVIEW Chroma Imager prints studies from PET/CT, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound, general purpose computed radiography, general purpose digital radiography, PACS and image-enabled EMR systems. It also supports dental printing applications. Image processing software is integrated within the DICOM interface for optimized image quality.

“Being able to send our referring physicians a structured report that includes a few high-quality color or black-and-white prints of key images, as well as the study CD, is definitely an innovative and value-added service,” said Dr. Riccardo Dus, M.D., Chief Radiologist, Casa di Cura Sileno e Anna Rizzola, San Dona’ di Piave, Italy. “A quick glance at these key images is much faster for our referring physicians than inserting and reviewing a complete imaging exam on the CD and avoids software incompatibility issues. These convenient printed images help physicians immediately understand my diagnosis and can be used to discuss treatment with their patients. This improved reporting service can lead to an even closer relationship between a specific diagnostic center and its referring physicians.”

The DRYVIEW Chroma imager is also ideal for printing from advanced visualization tools such as 3D volume rendering, color mapping and vessel analysis. It supports four medical film sizes and three medical paper sizes with a choice of glossy or matte finish.
