Blessing Hospital Purchases Eight Carestream Health, Inc. DRX Systems to Improve Productivity, Help Enhance Patient Care

ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 19 — Blessing Hospital, Quincy, Ill., purchased three CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution suites, three CARESTREAM DRX-1 Systems and two CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit kits for the hospital and its outpatient imaging center. The hospital and outpatient center conduct 100,000 medical imaging procedures a year and serve patients in Northeast Missouri, Southeast Iowa and West Central Illinois.

“Our goal was to convert from CR to DR systems to deliver image quality gains and faster access to patient images, which is especially important in our ICU and surgical suites,” said Candace Tretter, Blessing Hospital’s Director of Radiology Services. “Carestream’s DRX systems deliver excellent image quality and rapid image review while enhancing our staff productivity and workflow. These versatile systems are also very affordable, which allowed us to convert six rooms and two mobile x-ray systems while staying within our budget.”

Some of the most dramatic gains in patient care have been achieved in the ED, ICU and surgical suites. “Physicians report a significant improvement in image quality for these seriously ill patients, and being able to see the images in just seconds is very important for treating trauma and surgical cases. Carestream’s innovative Tube and Line Feature enables physicians to verify placement of PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) lines and tubes, which has improved care and reduced the need for duplicate imaging studies of ICU patients.”

Equipped with a wireless DRX detector and easy-to-use system software, technologists have produced greater efficiency in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Tretter added that converting to the DRX family also has reduced the radiation dose for inpatients and outpatients. The hospital uses its existing grids with the DRX detectors to further enhance imaging results.

Carestream’s portfolio of wireless DRX systems delivers compelling capital investment advantages. The DRX detector works with existing x-ray equipment and can easily be moved to any room or mobile DRX system, a feature the company refers to as the “X-Factor.” Healthcare providers can also move the detectors to new imaging systems when existing x-ray systems become outdated.

All CARESTREAM DRX products share the same user interface to reduce training time and further enhance productivity. Wireless DRX detectors power the CARESTREAM DRX-1 System; CARESTREAM DRX-Mobile Retrofit Kit; CARESTREAM DRX-Evolution modular DR suite; CARESTREAM DRX-Transportable System; and CARESTREAM DRX-Ascend System.
