FRANKLIN, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--BioMimetic Therapeutics, Inc. (NASDAQ: BMTI) today reported its financial results as of and for the three and nine months ended September 30, 2009. For the three months ended September 30, 2009, the Company reported a net loss of $7.9 million, or $0.36 per diluted share, compared to a net loss of $18.0 million, or $0.97 per diluted share, for the same period in 2008. For the nine months ended September 30, 2009, the Company reported a net loss of $22.3 million, or $1.11 per diluted share, compared to a net income of $4.2 million, or $0.22 per diluted share, for the same period in 2008. The Company ended the third quarter of 2009 with $69.2 million of cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments. The Company also reported $31.4 million in long term investments which includes $29.9 million invested in auction rate securities.
