SAN ANTONIO, Nov. 15, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BME (BioMedical Enterprises, Inc.), a developer and manufacturer of small bone implants, is proud to announce the United States launch of Speed. It is the first fully disposable continuous compressive bone fixation system made available to orthopaedic and podiatric surgeons.
BME, the only U.S. manufacturer of Nitinol small bone implants, applied its extensive knowledge in memory metal implant design to the development and production of Speed. The Speed system is a comprehensive series of shape memory bone fixation staple implants, in combination with single-use instruments. The disposable design prevents loss of instrumentation before and after surgery. Instrument cleaning and sterilization is completely eliminated, simplifying the entire surgical process and significantly reducing operating room costs.
“BME’s goal with Speed is to reduce surgery time and costs for all involved while creating a faster and more efficient surgical procedure. Speed is the first bone fixation system in the United States that is fully disposable. We’re very excited to introduce this product line,” stated Keith Peeples, CEO and President of BME.
