BIOLASE Technology, Inc. Awarded New Patent Leading to Total Diode Solution

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - April 15, 2010) - BIOLASE Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: BLTI), the world’s leading dental laser company, today announced that it was awarded a new patent (U.S. Patent number 7,697,814) related to its new handpiece with spatially controllable output energy distributions for teeth whitening and pain management. The handpiece is utilized with the BIOLASE family of diode laser systems.

The patent, granted on April 14, 2010, has broad coverage for a therapeutic laser handpiece applicable to BIOLASE’s diode family of laser products, including the ezlase™, Diolase™ and iLase™. The specific therapeutic applications covered by the claims are: teeth whitening, caries prevention and detection, desensitizing teeth, pain reduction for degenerative arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, muscle pain, tendonitis, acute soft tissue pain, treatment of muscle tears, treatment of hematomas, treatment of shingles, scarring, burn healing, wound healing, and composite curing.
