NORCROSS, Ga., Aug. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Molnlycke Health Care announces that global headquarters for its Biogel(R) surgical gloves business unit is now in the United States, according to Bob Contreras, president, Global Surgical Division. Lundy Fields, president, Americas Surgical Division, has been appointed global head of the Gloves business unit.
Molnlycke, the world's leading manufacturer and supplier of powder-free surgical gloves, is the only major medical glove company with an exclusively powder-free glove line. The Biogel brand of surgical gloves is nearly 25 years old and is known for exceptional fit, feel and comfort on the hands of surgeons worldwide. Headquarters for Molnlycke Health Care Americas and the global Biogel surgical gloves business unit is Norcross, Ga. Research and development, and some other support functions, will continue to be based in Irlam, England.
In addition to having responsibility for Biogel's worldwide gloves business, Fields will continue as president of the surgical business for North America. "We expect Lundy to duplicate globally the success of the US model he's built over the past few years as Surgical Division head," Contreras said. "He has grown our sales and profitability in a highly competitive market through his leadership style, focusing on Molnlycke's values of passion, integrity and learning."
"Connecting with our customers' needs and delivering solutions help them save lives is a key focus for Biogel surgical gloves. We are placing increased emphasis on the voice of our customer, especially during research and development of our products," Fields announced.
As the only major surgical glove company with an exclusively powder-free surgical glove line, Molnlycke's Biogel(R) surgical gloves pioneered an innovative thin inner coating of acrylate terpolymer obsoleting the need for potentially hazardous powder lubricant. The smooth inner surface allows Biogel gloves to be easily donned with damp or dry hands. This not only eliminates the risk of powder-related postoperative complications, but also reduces the risk of allergic reactions to aerosolized natural rubber latex proteins.
Molnlycke recommends the use of latex, synthetic and deproteinised latex glove styles to address both general surgery and specialty needs.
