September 12, 2019 (CAMBRIDGE, MA) – The Massachusetts Biotechnology Council (MassBio®) today announced a new partnership with BioCT to expand access to MassBio’s member savings program, MassBio Edge, to BioCT members. The expanded program will operate under New England Edge and will aggregate the purchasing power of each organizations’ member companies to allow them to have a strong presence in the marketplace and benefit from competitive discounts and premier customer service.

“MassBio’s Purchasing Consortium, now MassBio Edge, has been delivering incredible savings to MassBio members for decades, and we’re thrilled to extend these savings to life sciences companies across the New England region,” said Robert K. Coughlin, President & CEO, MassBio. “It’s ultimately up to state associations like MassBio and BioCT to support the most favorable business environment for biopharma companies to innovate and bring new therapies to patients. Forming a unified region will give each organization more leverage to demand greater services and savings.”

The original Purchasing Consortium was founded alongside MassBio in 1985 and has since grown exponentially, with 75% of members now participating in the program, saving each member company on average $100,000 a year. New England Edge boasts an impressive roster of Preferred Partners, each of which were carefully selected to join the program, and include:

  • Fisher Scientific (lab supplies)
  • Veolia Environmental Services (hazardous waste removal)
  • W.B. Mason (office supplies)
  • Middlesex Gases & Technologies (packaged cylinder & bulk gases)
  • LabCloud, Inc. (e-Procurement)
  • UPS (carrier shipping)
  • And many more!

“Partnering with MassBio to extend their New England Edge purchasing consortium agreement to BioCT members will maximize savings for our members so they can focus more time on research, not administrative tasks,” said Dawn Hocevar, President & CEO, BioCT. “This will also help build New England as a thriving bioscience/innovative region and help leverage funding for the growing companies and startups in our states.”
