(Rochester, N.Y.) National architecture, engineering and planning firm Bergmann has launched a new Science, Technology & Industry (STI) practice, providing an in-demand offering to companies in complex technical industries, including pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. This unique team of experts brings years of industry knowledge and understanding of business priorities and workflows which are integral to the success of these highly specialized projects.
Decades of experience have honed the Bergmann team’s ability to develop innovative solutions serving pharma and biotech clients, meeting operational and regulatory requirements and quality goals within cost parameters and timing, enabling the project team to deliver critical facilities to meet these important business drivers.
The STI team collaborates with clients to define and design the discovery laboratories, development facilities and production facilities for ground-breaking products, and often renovate spaces within client “legacy buildings,” which requires planning around operations that cannot be disturbed by construction. The team’s knowledge of processes, regulations, environments and hazards informs the team’s imaginations, enables project efficiencies and leads to highly successful project outcomes.
“Each facility our STI team works on is unique, complex, technical and regulated, as well as expensive and time-consuming to design and build, so a deep understanding of the industry is critical,” said Pete Giovenco, President and CEO, Bergmann. “The marriage of our engineering and architecture capabilities into this new practice, paired with our exceptional level of service, provides our clients with incredible value in addressing each facet of these intricate projects.”
The STI team formed as a result of the joining of Bergmann’s long-standing Research & Manufacturing (R&M) practice with the Science & Technology (S&T) team from Johnsrud Architects, acquired in late 2019. Since its founding, the R&M practice has provided highly specialized engineering services to industrial and manufacturing companies, along with scientific research organizations, with the firm building an extensive resume in the design of clean rooms, laboratories, cGMP facilities and most recently cannabis and hemp facilities.
Bergmann’s acquisition of Johnsrud Architects in 2019 balanced its existing engineering services with specialized architecture capabilities. Over 24 years, Johnsrud Architects became a leader in the planning and design of laboratories, as well as animal and production facilities, with a primary focus in the pharmaceutical and biotech sectors. The team’s unique experience has made it a trusted advisor to many Fortune 100 companies as well as numerous emerging life science companies.
“The STI practice brings to life the visions that both Bergmann and Johnsrud had when we embarked on this collaboration,” said Charles Johnsrud, Principal, Bergmann. “We are excited to bring greater value to existing clients and explore how we can engage with new organizations that will benefit from our combined expertise in planning and designing their facilities.”
Bergmann’s STI practice includes solutions to meet every unique need of pharma and biotech facilities, including animal facilities, containment, cleanrooms, warehousing, biomanufacturing, and more. More information on Bergmann’s STI practice can be found here: https://www.bergmannpc.com/sti.
