  • Leveraging the concept of virtual assistants, BASF expertise becomes available to its customers, supporting during all stages of the drug development process
  • The web-based applications are available for free and focus on optimizing drug formulation, regulatory and quality support and providing online information on the BASF portfolio
  • During the show, the company will also announce that, beginning November 2019, all oleochemical excipients for the pharmaceutical market will be certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO)

On this year’s CPhI Worldwide, BASF will launch and present its new web-based digital solutions, ZoomLab™, RegXcellence™ and MyProductWorld. An interdisciplinary team of chemists, pharmacists, regulatory specialists and digital experts developed the products from lab to reality. During the show BASF will also announce that all oleochemicals excipients supplied to the Pharmaceutical industry will be certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) as of November 2019.

ZoomLab represents a new online predictive tool which helps pharmaceutical drug formulators be more efficient. The solution eliminates pre-formulation trial & error steps and resources during the drug development phase. With the launch version of the app, formulators will be able to instantly predict uncoated tablet formulations for active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in Biopharmaceutics Classification System (BCS) Classes I, high solubility and high permeability, & III, high solubility and low permeability.

To simplify the compliance process, BASF is launching RegXcellence. It is a comprehensive regulatory and quality portal that gives customers the ability to instantly download documents, find audit information and have a compliance overview of the customer’s portfolio.

MyProductWorld offers an interactive and easy-to-use online navigator to find a suitable product solution to their formulation challenges. Customers will also be able to access comprehensive information about all of BASF’s products. The web-based platforms are free and available to use at www.mypharma.basf.com.

“We are inviting our customers to embrace and experiment the digital solutions we developed based on their needs and requests. With our digital solutions, we are making our expertise in the excipient area available 24/7 to the pharmaceutical industry, to be consumed according to our customers’ needs,” says Brett Burns, BASF Global Strategic Marketing Manager.

Sustainable sourcing

BASF is a founding and long-standing member of the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and contributing to sustainable development has been an integral part of BASF’s strategy since 2004. In line with our unwavering dedication to sustainable sourcing, we are pleased to announce that, as of November 2019, all oleochemicals excipients supplied to the Pharmaceutical industry will be RSPO certified. This is an assurance to the customers that the standard of palm oil production is sustainable.

BASF is committed to use raw materials that are both RSPO certified and traceable – this applies specifically to palm oil and palm kernel oil, as well as palm fractions and certain derivatives. More than 30 oleochemical excipients will benefit from this change.

“From our perspective, sustainability for the Pharmaceutical industry is about improving health and quality of life for patients all over the world. One of our contributions as a reliable supplier is to help our customers to do it in an environmentally conscious way, with sustainable sourced raw materials and solutions that will support them in reducing their carbon footprint,” says Sebastian Form, Director Applied Sustainability Nutrition & Health BASF.
