Victor Avalos of ISIS Services, LLC Awarded NCB-AALAS Al Marshall Award

San Carlos, CA, April 27, 2012 – The Northern California Branch of the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (NCB-AALAS) is pleased to announce Victor Avalos as the 2012 recipient of the Al Marshall Award. The award was presented on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the NCB-AALAS Awards Banquet during a San Francisco Bay dinner cruise aboard the California Hornblower.

Through the Al Marshall Award, NCB-AALAS gives special recognition to an outstanding laboratory animal technician. This award consists of an engraved plaque, a check and a 1-year membership to National AALAS at the Silver level. “We’re very proud of Victor for his accomplishments and commitment,” stated Deb Kaldunski, COO at ISIS Services, “he was completely surprised last night and there were several other ISIS Services employees in attendance to support his acceptance of the Al Marshall Award.”

Victor Avalos is a dynamic medical professional with over 15 years of experience serving on the ISIS Services team. Currently, Mr. Avalos holds the position of Senior Surgical Technician. In this capacity, Mr. Avalos has general supervisory and scheduling responsibility over the veterinary care technical staff. He also coordinates with the Animal Care Staff prior to and during the conduct of the study. He has distinguished himself as a skilled first assistance and a superior interventionalist.

Mr. Avalos started his career with ISIS Services in research as an animal caretaker. He eventually moved up to join the antibody division as an assistant lab technician. His continued success in the organization moved him towards the In Vivo Studies Division, where he served as an assistant OR technician, to his current role as a Senior Surgical Technician. With surgical expertise in a variety of procedures, Mr. Avalos assists clients routinely with their projects in the OR. He also participates in the ISIS Training Program by providing hands-on training to technicians, which includes anesthetic induction and maintenance, vessel cut-downs, fluoroscopy and ultrasound.

Mr. Avalos serves on the IACUC, has attended AALAS educational forums and is a regular attendee and certificate holder from the Academy of Surgical Research. He currently holds an active membership in AALAS.
