The United Kingdom government requires that agencies seeking to bring in nurses and other medical specialists to work in the National Health Service (“NHS”) are pre-approved before being allowed to bring in overseas staff. The Code of Practice is based on the strong ethical principles of making a sound and legitimate contribution to the NHS through the introduction of suitably qualified and experienced staff, together with the social responsibility of not targeting developing countries that have been identified as already having a drain on medical resources.
