The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation Release: Novel Therapeutic Approaches In The Treatment Of Multiple Myeloma And Lymphoma

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), in collaboration with Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) and Medical Education Collaborative, will hold its Institutional Insights symposium, “Novel Therapeutic Approaches in the Treatment of Multiple Myeloma and Lymphoma,” on Friday, February 6, 2004 at the St. Regis Hotel, in Los Angeles, California.

Institutional Insights is a unique program pioneered by the MMRF with leading experts in the field of myeloma and lymphoma presenting the most up-to-date treatment information to local oncologists, nurses, researchers, patients and their families. The symposia are interactive half-day programs that offer CME and CE credit for clinicians and nurses.

The Course Director and Myeloma Program Chair is James Berenson, MD, Institute for Myeloma & Bone Cancer Research; and Christos Emmanouilides, MD, PhD, from UCLA School of Medicine, is the Lymphoma Program Chair. Ground- breaking research on advances in understanding and treating myeloma and lymphoma will be presented by the following experts: Steven Coutre, MD, Stanford University School of Medicine; Stephen Forman, MD, City of Hope National Medical Center; Randy D. Gascoyne, MD, British Columbia Cancer Agency; David Siegel, MD, Hackensack University Medical Center; Edward Stadtmauer, MD, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine; and John M. Timmerman, MD, UCLA School of Medicine.

The esteemed panel will discuss the latest therapies for multiple myeloma and lymphoma, including: high-dose chemotherapy and stem-cell transplantation, antibody and vaccine therapy, bone disease management and, novel new agents, such as CC-5013, thalidomide, and VELCADE (bortezomib, formerly known as PS-341). On Friday, February 6th, the professional CME/CE program will start at 8:00 AM to 12:30 PM (continental breakfast and registration open at 7:30 AM).
