SynteractHCR is again asking its San Diego employees to save and donate clothing items and travel size toiletries to assemble hygiene kits. Employees outside of its San Diego offices are able to make monetary donations. SynteractHCR strongly encourages employee participation and donations. All donations will benefit the SDRM’s dedicated efforts to create a better community by serving those in need.
“SynteractHCR is dedicated to giving back to the community and appreciates San Diego Rescue Mission’s passion for San Diegans in need. The Mission strives to improve these San Diegans’ lives by providing food, shelter, education, and above all, dignity,” said Trisha Vonder Reith, senior director, marketing communications at SynteractHCR. “Our mission is centered on supporting the development of better therapies and bringing medicines that ultimately improve the lives of patients. At SynteractHCR, we are happy to support an organization in our own community also dedicated to improving lives.”
SDRM was founded in 1955 to address the needs of the community’s homeless and hungry by providing food, clothes and spiritual guidance. When homelessness grew to a crisis level in the mid-1980s SDRM opened a larger facility and took an innovative approach to provide long-term solutions by creating programs that included education and vocational training.
There are currently 10,000 homeless individuals in San Diego County. SDRM provides 12,500 nights of shelter, over 37,000 hot, nutritious meals and more than 82,000 hours of education, work training, rehabilitation to the residents in its long-term care programs. “San Diego Rescue Mission appreciates the generosity of individuals and corporations, like SynteractHCR, that help us change lives and restore hope to people struggling with homelessness, abuse, addiction and hunger,” said Herb Johnson, SDRM President and CEO.
