Spring Valley Laboratories, Inc. Announces Opening of Surgical Suite

April 18, 2011 -- Woodbine, MD-Spring Valley Laboratories, Inc. (SVL), a leader in small and large animal model contract research, is excited to announce the opening of its new state-of-the-art surgical center in our GLP compliant research facility.

The surgical center consists of a dual station operating room, designated animal preparation and recovery areas, surgeon preparation areas, a supply room, a dark room, and instrument preparation areas. All support rooms are conveniently located directly adjacent to the operating room. A four (4) station necropsy suite and various laboratory spaces are also available. Support equipment includes: autoclaves, pulse oximeters, anesthesia machines, electrocautery, dedicated oxygen and suction lines, portable x-ray, film processor, heated surgical tables, and instruments. SVL’s highly trained veterinarians, principal investigators, study directors, and AAALAS certified technicians are available to assist with as much or as little of your study as you desire. SVL can assist with all aspects of your study from IACUC and study protocol development to final report writing. SVL’s veterinary surgeons are available to perform your procedures, or your own team of surgeons can use the facilities while SVL’s technicians provide pre- and post-operative care. The suite is also available as a training center for client surgeons and academic institutions. SVL is experienced in housing a wide variety of small and large animal models. All purpose bred research animals are housed in our AALAC accredited (since 1989) facilities. All small animal models are housed in our indoor specific pathogen free (SPF) barrier. Both indoor and outdoor housing is available for large animal models.
