Singapore Economic Development Board Release: The Science Behind The Drug

SINGAPORE, Aug. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- On 12-14 October, Singapore will play host to BioMedical Asia (BMA) 2004 / BioTechnica Asia (BTA) 2004, the largest biomedical conference and exhibition in Asia Pacific. BMA-BTA 2004 will bring together industry leaders, venture capitalists, research scientists and industry professionals from Asia and around the world to discuss the latest trends in the biomedical industry. The theme of the conference is “The Science Behind the Drug.”

Dr Beh Swan Gin, Director for the Biomedical Sciences Group of the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) said: “BioMedical Asia and BioTechnica Asia is fast emerging as the must-attend event for global and regional biomedical players. The BMA 2004 conference will feature a distinguished line-up of industry leaders including Dr William Chin (Vice President Research of Eli Lilly & Co), Dr Stan Crooke (CEO of Isis Pharmaceuticals), Dr Jaap Goudsmit (CSO of Crucell), Prof Sir David Lane (Executive Director of Singapore’s Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology), Dr Kazuhiko Tanzawa (Director Research of Sankyo) and Dr Corey Goodman (CEO of Renovis). BMA-BTA 2002 attracted approximately 800 conference delegates and 2,400 exhibition visitors. This year, BMA-BTA 2004 expects participation of up to 1,000 conference delegates, 3,000 trade visitors and more than 100 exhibitors. Singapore-based medical doctors participating in BMA 2004 can also receive up to 12 continuing medical education (CME) points.
