Satellite Healthcare Acquires Peninsula Nephrology

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Jan. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Satellite Healthcare, Inc., a leader in the field of kidney disease, today announced that it has acquired Peninsula Nephrology, Inc., a physician-owned dialysis program based in Northern California. As part of the deal, Satellite Healthcare will acquire Peninsula Nephrology’s two existing dialysis centers, located in San Mateo, CA and South San Francisco, CA, which treat approximately 300 end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

“This represents an important acquisition for Satellite Healthcare as it further strengthens our ability to deliver needed chronic kidney disease services in the Northern California dialysis market,” said Mark Burke, Satellite Healthcare’s Chief Executive Officer. “Furthermore, we are excited about the strong philosophical alignment between Satellite Healthcare and the high-quality physicians at Peninsula Nephrology.”

In addition to its traditional in-center hemodialysis offerings, Peninsula Nephrology has built a strong peritoneal dialysis (“PD”) program. Of their approximately 300 patients, over 20% -- more than twice the national average -- receive PD.

“This commitment to driving increased adoption of PD is consistent with Satellite Healthcare’s efforts to grow current and emerging home therapies through our WellBound division,” stated Mr. Burke.

“We are very excited to join the Satellite Healthcare team which is highly-regarded for its dedication to quality clinical care, innovation and long-term commitment to the treatment of chronic dialysis patients,” said Fred Lui, M.D., President of Peninsula Nephrology. “We share Satellite Healthcare’s commitment to excellence and are eager to work together to continue to deliver superior care to both in-center and self-care dialysis patients.”
