Sacred Heart Medical Center Chooses OptiFlex(TM) For Materials Management Automation

SPOKANE, Wash., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Sacred Heart Medical Center, one of the largest hospitals in the Northwest, has begun installation of the Omnicell, Inc. OptiFlex point-of-use inventory management system.

Under the agreement with parent company Providence Services, Sacred Heart becomes the third hospital in the multi-hospital system to choose OptiFlex. Benefis Healthcare, Montana's largest hospital in Great Falls, has utilized the Omnicell systems for a number of years, and St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Mont. has nearly completed its installation.

"We expect to gain staffing efficiencies, improve our charge capture rate, cut our $12 million inventory by one-third and pay off our OptiFlex investment in two years," explained Bruce J. Currer, Sacred Heart director of materials management. "We selected Omnicell because they are the leaders in this technology, and we already have two years experience and success with OptiFlex at Benefis Healthcare."

Currer said a three-phase installation plan at Sacred Heart is underway with OptiFlex scheduled for the cath lab, interventional radiology, then nursing this fall and the operating rooms by the first quarter of 2006.
