Sacramento’s largest private radiology group has laid off 46 people — the first layoffs in the company’s 94-year history.
Radiological Associates of Sacramento Medical Group Inc. said the Dec. 2 cuts represent 5 percent of its work force. The layoffs include 39 staff in the diagnostic imaging division and seven in administration or billing. Two MRI centers will close this week.
The cuts respond to a significant drop in pay from government programs and anticipation of additional reductions next year. Competition has increased as hospital systems bring more imaging work in house. In order to survive and attract more work, ...
