BOONE, Iowa--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 2, 2004--Proliant Biologicals announced today that it has expanded its operations in Boone, Iowa, relocating management, sales and R&D from Ames to the newly enhanced facility. “Centralizing our company’s activities will greatly improve our internal communications and ultimately result in better service for our customers,” said Stephen Welch, President and CEO of Proliant Biologicals. The company already operates a state-of-the-art, 24,000 square-foot biologicals production facility on the site, which is 10 miles west of Ames, and recently added office and laboratory space to accommodate the expansion.
Proliant Biologicals manufactures high-purity animal-derived biochemicals, such as Bovine Serum Albumin (BSA), used in diagnostics, research, biopharmaceutical and veterinary applications. “Our business continues to grow, and we have resumed all export business despite the December discovery in the US of a single case of BSE in a Canadian-origin cow,” explains Michael Budnick, Vice President, Business Development and Sales. “Our customers and trading partners recognize our commitment to safety and traceability and understand the extremely low risk of our well-controlled plasma raw material source.” The company enhances its safety profile by engaging in prion clearance studies for its robust manufacturing procedure. “We are also keeping abreast of advancing testing technology, and ensuring the availability of alternate-country sourcing,” said Budnick.
