Omnicell PharmacyCentral enables hospital pharmacies to manage medication inventory in the central pharmacy while reducing medication errors, streamlining workflow for greater efficiency, and improving inventory control.

Overlake’s installation of Omnicell PharmacyCentral, Omnicell’s 26th nationwide and first on the West Coast, will be completed in September.

Medication Safety

Combining the benefits of an automated medication carousel system with bar code technology and sophisticated distribution and workflow management software, Omnicell PharmacyCentral will help Overlake pharmacists ensure that the right medications are stored in and retrieved from the right locations, both in the central pharmacy and in automated dispensing cabinets. Omnicell automated dispensing cabinets were installed last year.

“We expect Omnicell PharmacyCentral to improve the efficiency of the central hospital pharmacy, providing us with a perpetual inventory control system, and laying the foundation for providing bedside bar coding with the objective of reducing errors throughout the medication-use process,” said Ted Neal, director of pharmacy for Overlake.
