BioSeed®, a new conference created by OBN and Eurasanté, aims to showcase Europe’s most innovative early stage life sciences companies
26 July 2017, Abingdon, UK: OBN, the membership organisation supporting the UK’s innovative life sciences companies, is pleased to announce today that EY, global leader in assurance, tax, transaction and advisory services, has confirmed their support as Official Host of the first BioSeed® conference, taking place in London on 14 November 2017.
BioSeed® is the result of a shared vision between OBN and Eurasanté; with both parties aiming to fill the gap of industry events that solely support the interaction of early-stage companies with appropriate investors at a European level.
BioSeed® will run as a one-day event at EY’s 1 More London Place office, on 14 November 2017 and will feature presentations and pitches by early-stage organisations and a series of pre-scheduled one-to-one meetings with potential investors.
Ian Oliver, Executive Director, EY said “EY is delighted to host the inaugural London BioSeed® conference. We are committed to supporting OBN and Eurasanté’s efforts in connecting early-stage companies with investment opportunities to develop their innovations. According to EY’s Beyond Borders report, Europe is home to nearly 2,500 innovative biotechnology research companies, with 260 of those successfully positioned on the public markets; a 9% growth in 2016. With venture investment into European private companies topping €1.8bn in 2016, EY is thrilled to host this new conference which promises to facilitate continued momentum in early stage investing.”
Dr John Harris, CEO of OBN, said: “We are looking forward to launching our first ever BioSeed® event at EY’s offices in London. Our aim for this event is to make BioSeed® THE European marketplace for early-stage investments in the field of Life Sciences and we are proud to be working with EY to help support and enable positive outcomes for Life Sciences start-ups, whether that be funding, M&A, partnering or collaborations.”
Etienne Vervaecke, General Manager of Eurasanté, said: “To succeed, entrepreneurs must broaden their network of early-stage investors in order to see their financing rounds accelerate and increase in size. With BioSeed®, we aim to help and guide Life Sciences start-ups in the access and research funding process. We are thrilled to be working with OBN and EY to launch the first of a series of these events.”
