Mustard Tree Instruments Releases Software Platform Upgrade for VTT 1000 Multi-Variant Testing Device

(Research Triangle Park, N.C.) Mustard Tree Instruments®, a leader in analytical instrumentation for the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, has released an upgrade to the software platform for its unique multi-variant testing device, the VTT 1000. The release comes as the two-year-old company relocates into larger offices in the technology-rich Research Triangle Park region of North Carolina. Mustard Tree Instruments® increased its footprint from 5,400 to 14,000 square feet of offices and R&D space with the move to accommodate projected growth and future product needs.

“We find ourselves in strong demand as we continue to grow and develop solutions to help pharmaceutical manufacturers accelerate the quality control and product verification process,” Mustard Tree Instruments® CEO and Founder Todd Blonshine said. “This newest facility will permit expansion as we add a process Raman spectrometer line to our Mustard Tree Verifier® series.”

Mustard Tree’s growth follows development of its flagship product, the VTT 1000, which tests drug samples during the manufacturing process with non-destructive Raman spectroscopy. Using a small yet powerful laser and multi variant sensors, the VTT 1000 detects shifts in dispersed light to identify each sample’s molecular fingerprint, which is matched against established data to detect any discrepancies in the material tested in a matter of seconds.

The upgrade to the software platform for the VTT 1000 supports its industry-focused interface with touch driven, user-centric design empowering users to make instant quality control decisions on the go, halting production when inconsistencies are found and avoiding costly recalls of finished product. Developed to work with drug manufacturers’ existing business processes, the VTT 1000 software allows administrators to customize system settings to meet company-specific needs while maintaining compliance requirements and providing simple, unambiguous answers during tests.

“From the beginning, we designed the VTT 1000 to solve specific scientific and business problems identified by pharmaceutical manufacturing professionals,” said Brian Garrett, Mustard Tree Instruments® director of analytics, adding, “The software platform has a simple, elegant design providing the right screen to the right person at the right time to produce the right answer.”

Some highlights of the new software platform include:

- Quick Check tests which allow users to schedule instrument verification tests to make sure everything is performing as it should;

- Adjustable selectivity and sensitivity for customizable acceptance/rejection criteria for Type 1 and Type 2 errors;

- User-definable and transferable library containing a collection of parameters measured for reference materials;

- Granular control of Part 11 compliance and data transfer to LIMS or secure servers.
