SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Mercy Children’s Hospital, a Toledo, Ohio based tertiary pediatric facility within the Mercy Health Partners system, has recently deployed Site of Care Systems’ Daily Baby computerized charting application in their new state-of-the-art neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). The new NICU features best-of-breed medical devices across the board, from ventilators to software packages and is widely recognized as one of the most advanced neonatal units in the country.
“This is the first step in the growing partnership between Site of Care Systems and the Mercy Health Partners network of hospitals. We’re excited to be working with such an innovative healthcare provider to help improve patient care,” said Jean-Olivier Holingue, Chief Operating Officer at Site of Care Systems.
For Mercy Children’s NICU, deployment of The Daily Baby Center marks the beginning of the transition away from paper charts and towards a fully electronic medical record. The Site of Care Systems application is used by doctors and nurses to generate admission H & P’s, daily progress notes, discharge summaries, logbooks and extensive automated reports. It features automated ICD-9, CPT, and DRG coding, transforming patient charts into useful data. The granular data can then be easily accessed and utilized for daily documentation, process improvement, benchmarking, evidence-based medicine, quality initiatives, outcome review (such as the Vermont-Oxford Network) and much more. The software collects data directly from Mercy Children’s registration and lab systems though an HL7 interface, reducing data entry errors and streamlining physician workflow. Furthermore, pertinent data is automatically exported to the hospital’s data repository to help create a centralized Electronic Health Record.
“Our new NICU is one of the most advanced in the country, employing the latest in neonatal healthcare technology. When it came time to choose a software package, the Daily Baby Center was the natural choice. It will make it easy for us to collect quality and outcome statistics for the babies at Mercy Children’s, leading to better care for our patients,” said Dr. Richard Fulroth, Director of Neonatal Services at Mercy Children’s Hospital.
The Daily Baby Center software module is part of the Site of Care application suite, which collects comprehensive data on all phases of pregnancy through labor and delivery and into early childhood development, allowing for unique longitudinal analysis of patient outcomes. The integrated system also allows doctors and nurses to seamlessly connect pertinent newborn clinical information to relevant maternal medical history, including all prior and subsequent pregnancies.
