Medical Renaissance Institute Release: First Annual Renaissance Summit To Focus On Building An Endovascular Practice For Cardiothoracic And Vascular Surgeons

FREDERICK, Md., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Drs. David Allie, Frank Criado, Edward Diethrich, and Michael Mack -- world-renowned for their leadership in the field of cardiothoracic and vascular surgery -- will co-chair the first annual Renaissance Summit: “Reinventing the Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgeon,” to be held in New Orleans, LA on October 29. This Continuing Medical Education (CME) program is designed to be a valuable adjunct in strengthening an endovascular practice for cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons and will be presented in conjunction with New Cardiovascular Horizons 2005, the premier multidisciplinary cardiovascular conference in North America.

The Renaissance Summit was created as an introduction to the Renaissance Program, which has been designed to offer a continuum of catheter-based training to include advanced medical simulator training, animal labs, and “gloves on” experience to train the cardiothoracic surgeon (CTS) and vascular surgeon (VS) in endovascular therapies.

The reinvention of the CTS and VS through catheter-based training will be the focus of this year’s Renaissance Summit, along with a wide variety of valuable hands-on workshops, covering topics such as the endovascular treatment of thoracic and abdominal aortic aneurysms, percutaneous vascular access, peripheral vascular disease (PVD), remote SFA endarterectomy, endovenous therapy, and percutaneous heart valve therapy for the CTS. Additionally, a medical simulation component will be presented with simulation cases designed specifically for the cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon including carotid stenting, cardiac rhythm management for the CTS, and endovascular treatment of PVD.

In addition to the co-chairs, the Summit will include unique presentations by Drs. Julio Palmaz, Michael Mack, Francis Robicsek, Frank Criado, Grayson Wheatley, Cornelius Dyke, Craig Walker, and Richard Heuser.

More than 3,500 attended last year’s New Cardiovascular Horizons’ event, which fostered a unique environment of multidisciplinary endovascular education, networking with more than 125 exhibitors, and social interaction. It is anticipated that this year’s Renaissance Summit will attract 100-200 surgeons.
